The lake at last light, mist standing on the surface and the treeline doubled beneath it

A sheltered private lake, quiet for your ceremony.

The lake lies along the valley floor below the hall. It goes quiet for one hour around the ceremony, and the boat runs the rest of the day.

Why the water lies flat

The lake was built for water-skiing, which needs flat water. Its length, its depth, the angle of the banks and the treeline that blocks the prevailing wind were all chosen for that. On a properly windy day it still moves, like any lake in Alberta.

What to expect on the day

This is a working ski lake, and the boat runs for the rest of the day. For your ceremony the lake goes quiet for one hour, starting 15 minutes before the ceremony begins. For more on the lake, see https://shalompark.com/. The Still Weekend has limited dates: ask us.

Guests do not swim in the lake.

Questions

Can we get married at the water's edge?

Yes. The shore ceremony site sits on mown grass at the bank with the lake behind the couple.

How long is the lake quiet?

For one hour, starting 15 minutes before the ceremony begins. The boat runs the rest of the day.

Is the lake safe with children at a wedding?

It is open water and we treat it that way. Children at the shore should be supervised.

What happens if it is windy?

The lake is sheltered by its treeline, but on a windy day the water will move. The ceremony can move to the grove or indoors. See if it rains.

Can guests swim?

No. Swimming is never part of a wedding booking.

See it in person.
